Integrated Design-Build Interiors • Limited Annual Projects

Luxury Interior Design Integration & Construction

When interior design and construction are managed by the same firm, the design that gets built matches the design that was drawn. Black Rabbit Construction delivers integrated design-build interiors across Western North Carolina with more than two decades of experience holding both disciplines under one contract.

What to expect: A direct consultation to discuss your project scope, design direction, construction needs, timeline, and investment expectations.

Differentiator

Single-Contract Design-Build Interiors

We unite interior design, material specification, procurement, and construction execution under one contract. That integrated approach protects design intent from the first concept through final installation.

Premium Position

Interior Design That Gets Built as Drawn

Luxury interior design is not simply selecting finishes. It is the coordinated planning of space, light, materials, millwork, and construction details that determine how a completed home feels, functions, and holds its quality over time.

An exceptional interior is not assembled from individual selections made room by room. Flooring, stone, cabinetry, lighting, hardware, wall finishes, and architectural details must work together as one complete design language.

Black Rabbit Construction manages interior design integration as part of the construction process itself. The team specifying a material is the same team coordinating its lead time, installation requirements, and placement in the finished home. That direct connection eliminates the communication gaps that often separate a beautiful design concept from the final built result.

Every decision is made with awareness of the architectural structure, mechanical systems, construction sequence, and installation standards required to bring the design to life without compromise.

Service Matrix

Complete Interior Design Integration Services

Our interior design integration services are structured for clients who want the finished home to feel intentional, cohesive, and fully resolved—not like a collection of independently selected finish elements.

01

Interior Design Programming & Space Planning

Every successful interior begins with a clear framework. We establish the spatial relationships, material direction, lighting approach, and design vocabulary that guide every selection and construction decision that follows.

OUR TEAM DEFINES:

02

Architectural Detail, Millwork & Cabinetry

Interior design decisions often affect framing, electrical rough-in, mechanical locations, and the character of the finished structure. We document those details early so cabinetry, built-ins, paneling, trim, and architectural features are designed to be built correctly.

OUR PROCESS INCLUDES:

03

Material & Finish Specification

Flooring, tile, stone, cabinetry, countertops, wall finishes, hardware, and fixtures are specified as a coordinated system. Every selection is made with awareness of how it relates to the surrounding materials and how it must be installed in the field.

WHAT WE SPECIFY:

04

Lighting Design & Electrical Coordination

Lighting is treated as an architectural system—not simply a fixture schedule. We coordinate ambient, task, accent, and decorative lighting with the electrical rough-in plan so the final lighting supports the design of every room.

WE COORDINATE:

05

Procurement & Installation Management

A design is only as strong as its execution. Black Rabbit manages material lead times, vendor coordination, custom fabrication, delivery scheduling, and installation sequencing so the project stays aligned with the approved design and construction schedule.

WE MANAGE:

Integrated Design Standard

Intentional Design. Precise Execution.

By coordinating interior design, procurement, and construction under one team, Black Rabbit protects the details that make a finished home feel complete.

What We Do

Our Interior Design Integration Capabilities

Black Rabbit Construction provides full-service interior design planning and construction coordination for custom homes, whole-home renovations, and complex interior reconstruction projects throughout Western North Carolina.

Interior Design Programming

We establish a documented design direction before individual selections begin, creating a framework for spaces, materials, lighting, millwork, and finish decisions throughout the project.

Space Planning & Architectural Detailing

We coordinate floor plans, ceiling treatments, built-ins, openings, and interior architectural details that affect both the experience of the home and the construction required to build it.

Material & Finish Specification

From flooring and stone to cabinetry, tile, hardware, and wall finishes, every material is selected as part of one coordinated interior system.

Lighting Design & Coordination

Lighting layouts, fixture selections, control locations, and electrical rough-in requirements are coordinated to support both daily function and architectural atmosphere.

Custom Millwork & Cabinetry

We develop detailed millwork and cabinetry documentation for built-ins, kitchens, bathrooms, paneling, shelving, trim, and specialty architectural features.

Procurement & Installation Management

We manage lead times, fabrication schedules, deliveries, trade coordination, and installation quality so the completed interior matches the approved design documentation.

Operational Contrast

Why Interior Design Requires a Different Approach

The gap between a designed interior and a built interior is almost always a coordination problem. The quality of the final result depends on what happens before construction begins, how details are documented, and how the installing trades are managed in the field.

Design Intent

A finish specification that works on paper still requires disciplined field execution. When the people managing construction are connected to the design process, the material relationships, proportions, and details approved by the client are protected throughout installation.

Buildable Documentation

Concept sketches are not enough for custom interiors. Millwork, lighting, cabinetry, tile, stone, and finish transitions require documentation that fabrication shops and installing trades can execute without guesswork or unnecessary simplification.

Procurement Control

Long-lead materials, custom fixtures, stone slabs, specialty tile, and fabricated millwork must be identified early and ordered around the construction schedule. Unmanaged lead times are one of the most common causes of material substitutions and interior project delays.

Single-Contract Accountability

With Black Rabbit Construction, the team managing the design is also responsible for the construction it informs. That means fewer communication gaps, better schedule coordination, clearer responsibility, and a finished interior that reflects the original design intent.

Methodology

Integrated Interior Design Process

Our process is designed to move the project from design direction to documented specification, procurement, installation, and final completion without separating creative decisions from construction accountability.

1

Discovery

We begin by understanding the project scope, architectural context, desired design direction, timeline, and investment expectations.

2

Programming

Spatial priorities, material direction, lighting goals, millwork vocabulary, and functional needs are defined in a documented design framework.

3

Design Development

Space plans, interior elevations, ceiling concepts, millwork details, lighting layouts, and material options are developed and reviewed with the client.

4

Specification

Final materials, fixtures, cabinetry, finishes, and installation requirements are documented to construction-ready standards before procurement begins.

5

Procurement & Construction

Materials are ordered, custom fabrication is scheduled, and installation is coordinated with the overall construction program and trade sequence.

6

Completion

Finish work is inspected against the approved design documentation, punch-list items are resolved, and the completed interior is reviewed with the client.

Interior Design Integration for Custom Homes, Renovations & Private Properties

Western North Carolina homes require an interior approach that responds to mountain settings, changing light conditions, natural materials, architectural character, and the way owners use their homes across seasons.

Black Rabbit Construction provides integrated interior design and construction coordination for clients who want a complete design-build process rather than separate firms managing separate portions of the same project.

We specialize in:

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Black Rabbit offer interior design integration as a standalone service, or only as part of a construction project?

Interior design integration is most commonly delivered as part of a new custom home, whole-home renovation, or full interior reconstruction project. In select cases, Black Rabbit accepts interior design integration scopes where the construction work is limited to the finish installation required by the design. The Discovery Phase determines the right scope and contract structure for each project.

Client involvement is built into the design workflow. The programming phase establishes the design framework collaboratively, and materials and finishes are reviewed with the client from curated options that align with that framework. Rather than handing clients an open catalog, we guide selections in a way that keeps every decision coordinated with the larger interior design vision.

Lead times for specialty materials, fixtures, stone, tile, and custom millwork are identified during the Design and Specification Phase. Procurement begins early enough to coordinate delivery with the construction schedule. The project team manages vendor communication, order status, fabrication timing, and delivery scheduling throughout the process.

This is evaluated on a project-by-project basis during the Discovery Phase. Projects managed by another construction firm can present coordination challenges that the unified design-build model is intended to prevent. Black Rabbit can assess the project conditions and determine whether meaningful integration is possible.

The standard scope includes architectural finish elements such as flooring, wall and ceiling finishes, cabinetry, millwork, lighting, plumbing fixtures, and built-in features. Furniture selection, window treatments, and soft furnishings can be incorporated when the client requires that level of coordination.

Our primary service area includes Weaverville, Buncombe County, Asheville, Black Mountain, Fairview, Hendersonville, and the surrounding Western North Carolina region. Projects outside the immediate service area are evaluated individually.
